FDA Recalls Nestle Evaporated Milk

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has updated consumer complaints on coagulated milk products from renowned food specialties, Nestle Ghana Limited. This is occasioned by the receipts of consumer complaints on a number of coagulated milk products from the food specialties. 

The FDA expressed in their update that in accordance with standard and excellent regulatory practices, it swiftly "requested Nestle to respond to the complaints and initiate a recall of the affected batches".

The FDA said, "To date, the FDA has undertaken a comprehensive regulatory action to ensure that any safety concerns to consumers were immediately detected and dealt with...................... A microbial analysis was conducted on samples taken from the manufacturing facility and complaint samples at the FDA laboratory.

Results from the analysis indicated that there was no microbial contamination of samples and therefore there is no food safety issue with the said coagulated milk products from Nestle".

Moreover, the FDA additionally revealed that the root cause of the coagulated milk products was as a result of the poor heat stability of skimmed milk powder used to produce the milk.

However, the FDA has listed some batches of Ideal and Carnation Milk for a recall and has lauded customers for their alertness to ensure the well-being of the public.
